Reading and Phonics

We use a wide range of reading books, from Oxford Reading Tree and other popular schemes to 'real' books. The books are organised into coloured bands. Staff hear the children read at least twice a week. Children are encouraged to read daily at home. We also read to the children every day.

We teach a carefully structured phonics programme throughout the school. This is based on Twinkl Phonics, but is supplemented by Jolly Phonics and LCP Phonics. All our programmes are based on Letters and Sounds. KS1 children all have a Big Cats Phonics reading book linked to the phase of phonics which they are studying.

If you would like further information on the curriculum we teach, please contact the school directly.
